Waltz in C, Op. 38, No. 9 by Muzio Clementi

Muzio Clementi’s amazingly delightful Waltz in C, Op. 38, No. 9 was originally published in 1798 in a collection of 12 waltzes for piano “with accompaniment for tambourine and triangle.” At that time, the waltz form and the “exotic” sounds of the triangle and tambourine had captured the imagination of amateur musicians in Georgian England.

This piece can be successfully performed by the late intermediate level pianist either as a solo or as an ensemble that includes the percussion parts. The many glissandos offer the pianist an opportunity to show off her/his pianistic skills.

This interactive urtext edition is based on original sources, includes scholarly information as well as instructions for interpreting the tambourine notation. A model MIDI recording of all parts by George F. Litterst is included.
