This arrangement provides a long-awaited opportunity to introduce the very youngest pianist to melodies composed by women in the time usually associated with the music of Brahms, Schubert and Robert Schumann. Clara Schumann, one of the best concert pianists of her time, married the composer Robert Schumann and often premiered both his music and the music of Johannes Brahms. She also composed chamber music, choral pieces, and songs in addition to solo piano pieces. This theme from her Piano Trio is now thought to be one of the most beautiful melodies of the 19th century. Students of all ages delight in being able to play something so beautiful and authentic early in their study of the piano!
Looking for more easy piano versions of works by historical women composers? This arrangement was commissioned by Penny Lazarus Piano Studio as part of an effort to expand the early piano repertoire with pieces by women composers of the last 900 years.
