Étude in C Minor, Op. 41, No. 1 by Louise Farrenc

Louise Farrenc was one of many early 19th century piano virtuosi. In addition, she was a composer, scholar, and a professor of piano at the Conservatoire de Paris, one of just two female faculty at that esteemed institution. A composer of concert works for pianists as well as chamber and orchestral works, Farrenc composed four albums of etudes for aspiring amateur players as well as for young concert artists at the Conservatoire. Étude in C Minor, Op. 41, No. 1 is a brilliant and passionate work, demanding digital clarity and skilled pedalling. This edition comes with scholarly commentary, a biography of the composer, and a MIDI performance by George F. Litterst.
