Petites litanies de Jésus is a beautiful and peaceful work. Harmonically, this piece features many 7th chords and parallel 4ths, 5ths and octaves. Like other composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Grovlez wrote music that extended beyond the major/minor system of the previous 200 years. This work has a very modern sound that is absolutely gorgeous, and it provides an excellent study in legato playing.
