Prelude in C Major, BWV 846 & 846a by Johann Sebastian Bach

This album traces the development of the famous Prelude in C Major from the first book of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1. The first draft of this work was composed in 1720 as part of the Clavier-Büchlein for his 10-year old son, Wilhelm Friedemann. During the next two years, Bach substantially revised the work for inclusion in the Well-Tempered Clavier.

This interactive urtext edition includes a history of the work, a facsimile of the first draft, original and updated notation of both versions, performance suggestions, and MIDI performances of both versions by George F. Litterst.
